We are going to lunch and to see the movie Michael on Mother’s Day. There will be 10 of us and I am looking forward to it. This outfit was gifted to me by an Amazon seller and I LOVE it! I’m thinking this might be the perfect outfit. It looks like a dress but it has shorts underneath. Genius.

It’s 100% cotton and comes in lots of colors. I think it has a cute retro vibe that feels so fun! I’ll add red beads to make it look a little more patriotic this summer. Note that these photos were taken immediately after it was delivered and I had not steamed or ironed it yet.

Friday after getting the contact lens removed from my eye - it did not hurt and took literally seconds but cost $95 - I worked! I had met my friends to walk and then go to HIIT workout class earlier of course. After work my husband and I walked to the UCF baseball game. This was not the best idea as it was 91 degrees and we were carrying metal frame chair backs. It’s about a mile and a half from our house. By the time we got there I was drenched! Luckily we cooled off but then still had to walk home and even when it’s dark it’s humid here. I had to shower before going to bed! Below the sweaty mess that was me when we arrived. Thank goodness for setting spray and wigs!

Saturday I went to Target to pick up this bag I ordered online. The first one I got had a broken clasp so I ended up with the darker color. I really like the bag and the price. By the way it is now on sale! It’s a dupe for this bag. The pictures below are the Target bag and then the Coach bag.

Saturday night we stayed home and I made dinner. We played Farkle and Phase 10 before starting the Hulk Hogan documentary on Netflix. It is very interesting even as someone who never got into wrestling. By the way, this was what I wore on Saturday. The dress is now on clearance for $14!

Sunday I got up and went to church at 8:45. Came home, got my walk in and then bathed. I love soaking in the tub! I got dressed again and went to Mah Jong. This is what I wore to church and to Mah Jong. I had to wear the cardigan in the morning because it was chilly. Isn’t it just so darn pretty?

The white denim jeans are from Walmart. They are amazing y’all! At just $28 they are not only a steal but the quality is amazing. There are other washes available besides white. I am almost 5’4” and don’t have to wear heels with these, that makes them a favorite!

This is the kind of weekend I love to have. Not too many plans but relaxing and renewing. I really enjoy going to the early service at church. We used to go at 10 but that meant I either needed to walk very early or when I got home. Getting home after 11 and then walking for 80 minutes seems to make the day go by too quickly. I like the earlier service. Sundays seem to be the day I get all my boxes checked: my faith & spiritual needs get me, my physical activity needs get met, and my social needs do too.

Starting today there are some changes in my full time job. I have been a grades K-5 school counselor but as of today I am a grades K-6 school counselor. This means I now have 1300 more students. It’s not just me, my two teammates do as well. So my workload will look a little different. To adjust I am going to be cutting back my posting schedule here. I will now post on Mondays and Fridays to preserve my sanity!

My mother has been wanting to go for ages but the timing was never quite right. I am SO GLAD we did this! We had a great trip and my mom got to love on her bestie as well as another friend who lives in the area. She had been texting with my mom and we found out she lived 4 miles from our hotel! She stopped by to visit right before we left. This trip was my gift to my mom for Mother’s Day!

I’m telling you, the gift of time is the absolute best! We returned home on Tuesday afternoon and I got a contact lens stuck in my eye. It is now Thursday afternoon and I still cannot get it out. I have an appointment Friday morning at 10 and fingers crossed my eye doc can easily remove it!

I kind of hate admitting this BUT when we go out of town the one thing I love doing is checking out the local Walmart! I went to two different ones on this trip and saw lots of cute clothes. Sadly the sizes were very limited so ordering online is my best option. However, touching and feeling the clothing was great! The quality of Time and Tru and Free Assembly is amazing!

I left with these denim bermuda shorts and a white tee. The shorts are a great length! I almost bought this cute blouse but I decided against it, it is darling though! It comes in white and that just might make it’s way to me!

On Instagram I keep seeing the cutest patriotic front porches. Walmart to the rescue again! I ordered two of these wreaths. The price was phenomenal.

So that’s what I have been up to this week. Traveling a little and having a crazy contact lens issue. I hope your week was amazing and the weekend ahead is one filled with peace and joy!

Quince linen feels softer and seems to wear better. I throw it in the washing machine and air dry for a few minutes then hang. Linen has become my go-to in the heat and I finally understand all the hype!

I took this set with me when I traveled this week and it was perfect! So comfortable in the heat. I had several people comment about how pretty it was and one salesperson asked me where it was from. I am excited about today’s post! For several years I’ve been a big fan of Quince but I had yet to purchase denim. Actually that’s not true; I purchased them and then returned them. The problem was that I didn’t really understand the difference between the two styles: Bella and Luna. By the way, this is NOT a sponsored post.

Let me break it down for you because at just $50 a pair, you’d be hard pressed to find denim this good! It looks and feels like premium denim. The Bella cut has a high rise and is more generous through the hips and thighs. The Luna cut is a mid rise and fit straighter and slimmer. Quince denim comes in a wide array of sizes AND inseam lengths! Plus there are tons of washes!

Out of curiosity I ordered three pair to sample. The Bella Stretch Kick Flare, the Luna Stretch Flare, and the Luna Stretch Slim Boyfriend. I ordered all 3 in a size 28.

First up is the Bella Stretch Kick Flare. I really like these! I sure wish I had taken more photos. I mostly shot video - sorry about that. You can see the videos in my LTK. These are comfortable with just the right amount of stretch. This pair is in the color Seaside Blue. I ordered these in a 26 inch inseam.

Next up the Luna Stretch Flare. These remind me so much of my Mother Denim! Incredible! I think this style is a good one on so many body types. This pair is in the color Seaside Blue. I ordered these in a 30 inch inseam.

Finally, the Luna Stretch Slim Boyfriend. I love the relaxed fit of these and the length. I decided to keep this pair! This pair is in the color Atlantic Blue.

Sorry I didn’t wear shoes in these photos but I was excited when the package arrived on Saturday! The good news about Quince is that they offer free shipping and free returns. So, the two pair I didn’t keep have already been sent back.

I have amassed quite a denim collection and I am not sad about that. They fit my lifestyle so it makes sense. I am considering the kick flare in white but I also ordered (and kept) linen pieces. This is me trying to practice a little discernment!

Yesterday in church our pastor discussed the 5 lies of identity. This really struck me because over the years each of these has cropped up for me. If you google the topic you’ll likely get a few different answers but they are basically the same.

By sharing these I hope to inspire you to focus on what matters most - how you feel about yourself. It’s really become the driving force of all I share. I am passionate about women feeling and looking their best and knowing that they are worth the added effort.

5 Lies of Identity

Lie one is I am what I have. This reminds me of when I was a kid and felt so badly that I didn’t have the kinds of clothes, cars, house, etc. that people around me had. As I got older I realized how little any of that meant. I know quite a few people who still feel the need to keep up with others but I firmly believe that comparison is the thief of joy.

Lie two is I am what I do. Is your identity firmly planted in your profession? Or maybe a hobby? Maybe a lifestyle? There’s more to each of us than that! This reminds me of when I was newly married and my husband and I got invited to Amway events, these recruiters would always introduce themselves and then ask us what we did. I told my husband I was tempted to ask when? In the morning I get up and go to work, at night I watch tv, etc.. Of course I knew that wasn’t what they were asking but I was trying to make a point. We are more than what we do. BTW, we had family members who were in Amway for some time and that’s why we were invited to these kinds of things, until it became very evident that we were not interested.

Lie three is I am my worst moment. This was particularly important at church as our pastor shared how sometimes we just can’t seem to forgive ourselves for something we did in the past. No matter how hard any of us works we can never change the past but we can change the future and how we behave. As a counselor this is so important to me!

Lie four is I am what I achieve. Success is wonderful, winning awards and achievements is great but it’s fleeting. It can also be exhausting and keep us rooted in the past. At some point we have to find another source of joy, one that is more enduring.

Finally, we have made it to lie five! Lie five is I am what others think of me. This is the one that really spoke to me. As I have matured I have cared less and less what others think, in fact I’d rather not know. Which is kind of funny as an influencer whose very existence is tied to likes and follows! But I tell you honestly, I am who I am and I will not please everyone. That’s fine with me - really! I am confident in who I’ve become and this is why I don’t get rattled by negative comments. I understand where they are coming from and I simply refuse to allow them to impact me. It’s not my business what others think of me - I cannot control how they think so why bother? I am who I am and I trust that the right people will be in my life. It’s very freeing to give up trying to please others and make sure I am liked by all. I can’t and I am not.

I’m going to leave this right here for you. Please ask yourself if any of these lies is impacting your life. Are these beliefs stealing your joy? Maybe it’s time to see them for what they are - lies. They are non-truths. Maybe it’s time to reclaim your joy and happiness? I hope so. Life is too short and too precious for anything else.

Not all days are easy. I do understand that. But I will always search for the silver lining, the small joy, the shred of happiness, how about you?

Let’s start with one that cracks me up! My Facebook has exploded lately with lots of new followers. I am blessed by this honestly. But that also means some funny people pop up every now and again. This cracked me up yesterday. Seriously Dana DH they are clothes, not tattoos. No need for such a reaction!

I know what you’re thinking: SCANDAL! That scarf around the waist is so offensive. Bahahahahahahahaha!! I get such a kick about things like this and I am glad they happen to me - maybe if they do then the person won’t do it to someone else. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this has no impact on my happiness!

Another thing I find funny is that the people who choose to say mean things haven’t said a word about my wigs! I certainly expected that to be an issue but so far it’s just my clothes.

Here’s another outfit I wore on Sunday after church to run a few errands. It was a no make up day for me so yes, I look a little different. I was wearing tinted sunscreen.

While the denim bermudas are a favorite my most favorite thing is the pink shirt! It has such great details and was totally worth the extra money. I’ll wear this for a very long time!

Let’s talk about my new self tanner. I didn’t want to like this but I do. Here’s the story. I used to this self tanner. It was inexpensive and worked so well until it didn’t. I don’t know what happened. I bit the bullet and switched to Loving Tan. It was fine but it kept staining my sheets. After seeing this over and over again I figured why not. It goes on white - no color guide so it does not stain anything. It’s super easy to apply - no glove or mit needed. It’s like applying moisturizer. The color develops during the day and looks great. So, for now, this is what I’ll be using!

You know I have been playing Mah Jong for a while now. I need to play more often and have been looking into options. One thing I realized when Amy said something about the rules being on the back of the card is that my card was a copy of the front only! I never had rules handy! I ordered my 2026 card so now I have the rules. I also ordered a new mat that has rules on it too. Now I’m feeling better about trying to teach my husband and a few friends. Do you play yet?

My Lifestyle

My clothes have to fit my lifestyle and while that seems like, duh, of course, it’s not that simple. I am a girl who has always loved a great suit, heels, a fabulous dress. But working from home for the past 8 years AND getting older have taught me that my lifestyle is more in line with elevated casual pieces. I have slowly cleaned out my closet and have been replacing things that no longer serve me. I have also learned to be okay with spending a little more on casual pieces.

This maxi dress is what I wore on Friday. I worked from home and had to run to get a 2nd opinion on my torn rotator cuff. Praise Jesus the 2nd surgeon said he would not recommend surgery. I am starting PT today! What a relief!

It really struck me. This was the earlier church service and since my husband was away for the day I went to the 8:45 service. The truth of the matter is I woke up feeling blessed. I’d had a great Saturday and slept well. But hearing this older woman respond this way made me think. Why do we just automatically say, great or fine? What would happen if my response the next time I’m asked how I’m doing is, “I am blessed” how would that change things?

I’m going to try it. Because I want to do for others what this sweet woman did for me. She opened my eyes. She made me appreciate the ordinary, the mundane, the moment. How can I not give that gift to someone else?

Listen, my life is not perfect. Not by a long shot. But I trust in the plans that God has for me. I am blessed to have the gifts He has given me and the struggles I have as well. I’m grateful and happy for the life I have at this very moment. I don’t know what tomorrow, next week, month, or year will bring but today? Today I am blessed!

Actually, that’s not true. I have quite a few words. I will most likely not get the chance to say them. In any case the kids know they can count on us. Also? How can you not want to be around your grandchildren? We had a good time and in some ways we were happy they stayed home.

On Tuesday I got to have brunch with one of my influencer friends who lives in Louisiana. Her parents have a vacation home in The Villages. It was great to spend time together. The funny thing is we almost wore the same pants! Luckily I chose my new blue pair. We were both wearing these shoes though - ha!!

You might remember how I wanted a pair of track pants. If not then you’ll just have to take my word for it. I wanted a pair. Well, it seems I have found them. A Youtuber I adore shared these and I couldn’t click add to cart fast enough.

I love that they are sporty enough to be worn with sneakers but also dress up nicely with a low heel. I wore them with flip flops one day too when we had rainy weather. Okay, the flip flops may not have been the best idea in spitting rain…

The reality is it doesn’t take me a lot of time to get ready and I would never encourage anyone to be a slave to their daily style or appearance. Life is for living and style should be enjoyable. Aside from going to be at night it’s my favorite time of the day!

We all get busy and some mornings are slower than others. My solution for those crazy days when you don’t have time to think, you feel rushed, and stressed is to have several easy and effortless outfits ready to go!

Easy & Effortless

A two piece set is the easiest way to dress in these situations. Throw on and go! Dresses work too but sometimes that means your legs have to be shaved - or you might find yourself a little pale from missing a self tanning session. Can you tell I have a lot of experience with both of these scenarios?

These are a few of my favorites but of course there are others. Choose colors you love and that’s half the battle. Dopamine dressing is real! Think back to the last time you hate to get ready for work in a hurry and threw on all black. While I think all black can be very chic I know when I was wearing it because I was in a hurry it was anything but chic. It was merely acceptable. I did the bare minimum to appease the dress code but that’s where the effort ended.

Easy Accessories

Accessorizing a set really takes it to another level and gives you a chance to add your own personal touch. Someone else might own the exact set you own but they won’t wear it the same way if you accessorize.

My jewelry is displayed out in the open so it’s easy for me to see what I have, grab what I want, and wear it. If that isn’t your set up, no worries. How about grouping your accessories into sets? Maybe there are certain pieces you like wearing together - why not store them that way? Some women go as far as grouping handbags, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories (hats, scarves, etc.) together. Maybe you wear a baseball cap, sling bag, sneakers, and hoop earrings and call it your sporty chic set. This can help immensely!

Good Friday

Well, I didn’t make it to the Good Friday service I had hoped and I was pretty disappointed but things happen. Luckily we had fun plans with friend Friday night! We had tickets to see The Little River Band! We saw them last year as well and it was a good show. Lots of ‘reminiscing’ - see what I did there??

Here’s what I wore, although initially I was planning to wear it without the white shirt. I am glad I changed it up because I would have been cold.

Saturday

I slept in on Saturday until 8:43am! Did I sleep through the night? No, I got up a few times but I made myself go back to sleep. I really needed it. I took my 5 mile walk and then got ready for the day.

I started playing in my closet and ended up slathering body make up on since I hadn’t self tanned in a few days and didn’t feel like going to get a spray tan. Anyway, I used the Westmore Beauty body make up. This time I followed the instructions verbatim and got a nice outcome - meaning it didn’t transfer to my clothes. But I have decided I’ll stick with the Sally Hansen version. Less expensive and less work! Also? My legs turned out streaky. I could have done another layer but I was lazy.

One of the outfits I put together and wore for Easter was this sundress and blouse. The two were begging to be paired and who am I to deny a relationship? I love how it turned out.

This is what I wore on Saturday. We went to a grocery store I don’t usually enjoy but they had prime rib for $9.99 a pound and I could not resist.

We did nothing the rest of the day! Well, my husband was plenty busy and I did have to film some UGC content but we didn’t leave the house. I went to bed at 9:30pm.

Easter Sunday

For years I have wanted to go to the sunrise service at our church and I never make it. This year I did! I woke up at 6:10, rolled out of bed and threw on leggings, a sweatshirt, a ball cap, and sneakers and off I went! My husband was asleep and I left him there. I have no problem going to church alone but God had other plans for me! As I pulled into a parking space I ran into a friend and her two sons. We sat together and it was wonderful. We all brought lawn chairs and sat near the pond. It was so beautiful under the lights and then watching the darkness turn to light.

The nice thing about early church? Getting home by 7:30am! I enjoyed my coffee and then went for my 5 mile walk. As soon as I returned home I started making the dishes to bring to my sister’s house. Once they were done I soaked in the tub and then sat down to right this. I sit on my couch and think “how in the world did I get so blessed?” I surely don’t deserve this life but I am eternally grateful and need to be sure I am a good steward of this gift.

I am looking forward to our dinner later today (Easter Sunday). My sister doesn’t really cook but she decorates a beautiful home and table. We all do our part and make the day special.

My days of egg hunts and chocolate bunnies for my kids may have passed, but Easter means more to me now. As a midlifer with more life experience - losing those I love especially - I have a better understanding of the sacrifice that was made on the cross all those years ago for me. And you!

Too Good Not to Share!

I bought these shoes last week when we were wedding venue shopping. I kept searching online but they only had them in black. Well, they FINALLY added them in cognac and a pretty dusty pink shade. They look so much like these from Anthro. I’ve been wearing them almost everyday for the last week and they are comfortable! Grab them while you can! They run true to size for me.

These pants arrived yesterday and I immediately put them on and fell in love! They look so much like this expensive pair. I like that they go anywhere and look great with all kinds of shoes from sneakers to heels! They come in 9 colors and are made of cotton and spandex - they are so comfortable. I am wearing a small, they come in sizes XS-XL.

Very early Tuesday morning I had a Dexascan. Afterwards I dropped into Target to grab my Easter groceries and you probably know what happened next. However (get ready for it), in my defense, I was looking for a white midi skirt. I saw one at Walmart but it didn’t grab me. This one did. Also? It’s on sale. So I had to at least take it home and try it.

In the summer months it’s almost too hot and humid to wear pants or even shorts. Dresses and skirts are the way to go around here. I love the length of a midi skirt. The problem I have found is that some are so voluminous. While I don’t want a super slim, body con skirt I also don’t want layers and layers of ruffles. This one hit the mark.

Once I got home a tried it on, I was a little disappointed. It drives me crazy when you can see the pockets through the fabric. My immediate thought was it’s going back. But then…

I warmed up to it. As I started trying on different tops I realized how much I liked it. It pulls on easily and has elastic at the back. It is lined and the fabric is cotton poplin. It also comes in a blue striped and red floral print. The skirt comes in sizes XS-4X.

What makes this skirt a wardrobe workhorse is just how easy it is to style. It looks great with a flip flop or sneaker but can also be dressed up. Just reach for it anytime you would wear shorts, white pants, or jeans. The skirt will be cooler and I think you’ll achieve that elevated casual look!

How I Styled It

The strapless denim top is one I picked up last week from Loft. It may still be 50% off plus an additional 15% and free shipping. I love it! It looks great with the skirt.

I picked up this beautiful blue blouse at Target. I decided to add the scarf around my waist and really like it! I wore this blue beaded necklace with the heart pendant with all 3 of these outfits. It’s such a steal!

For the everyday I love this nod to the coastal grandmother style. It’s cute and comfy. Once again, the espadrille Mary Janes make an appearance.

Have I told you about these clear sandals from Amazon yet? They have the lowest wedge heel and they’re comfortable. They go with everything!

One last look at the skirt and scarf combo! I never thought I’d wear a scarf this way but I really like it. Like my wig? It’s so affordable and I love this style. I bought it from the Tik Tok shop!

Friday was my youngest son, Collin’s birthday! I still cannot believe my baby is 26 - next year he will turn 27 on March 27th in the year 2027 - isn’t that cool? He chose Indian for dinner and invited his best friend to come. Dinner was delicious! Then the boys got ice cream and we walked around downtown Winter Park for a bit. The boys then left to go play pool and Brian and I headed home.

Earlier in the day I had two doctor appointments. I have had some pain in my shoulder over the last few years and it recently started to become a little more pronounced. Turns out I have a tear in my rotator cuff and will need surgery. Ugh. Anyway, this week I should get an idea of when I’ll have said surgery.

Saturday started out pretty tough. While we were in Vegas we got some terrible news. The mother of our former sister in law had fallen in February and ended up in the hospital - she passed away on March 4th. On March 7th, her daughter, our former sister in law, had a heart attack and passed a few days later on March 12th. She had been married to my husband’s brother for 30 years and I loved both of these ladies. My two nephews lost two important women within days of one another and I am heartbroken for them. We attended their service on Saturday. Lots of emotions.

What really bothered me most about the service was the fact that my brother in law, who has since remarried, did not attend the service. He chose to let his two sons deal with this alone because, as he put it, he lived through a difficult divorce. Over the years he has made poor choices as a father and has let his sons down but in my opinion, this was the worst. He put himself before them and that is so very sad. He will have to live with the consequences of his decisions. I share this to hopefully save someone else for making a tragic mistake like this - what an absolute shame.

Saturday night we had dinner with our best friends - this was desperately needed. It felt good to talk this out and sit with it for a while.

What’s even worse is that our brother in law and his new wife scheduled a party for Sunday afternoon to reveal their newly remodeled kitchen. I’m fairly certain his sons will not be attending and frankly I don’t want to go either. I know that life goes on but this is in poor taste. Especially since his new wife (I’m not a fan btw) was texting me asking me for help with said party while my former SIL was on life support - she never mentioned it and we didn’t know yet but she did. I just can’t wrap my brain around this - also I told her I would not help her plan the party. When I’m not a fan I’m not a fan - I am polite and I tolerate this person but that is the extent. This is how I deal with toxic people that I cannot completely cut out of my life.

As I write this Sunday morning, I am wishing we could get out of going to the party today but know we cannot. If you know anything about me, then you know I am not fake and I do not put on appearances, so there’s that. I trust God to help me through today and to help me hold my tongue. We will not stay long which will help. I can do hard things, I know I can.

We did speak to both of our nephews at the service yesterday and let them know we are here for them. The wife of one of the nephews let us know how much they had hoped my brother in law would have come through and how it meant so much to have us there (my mom and sister came too).

This post is way more personal than I would have thought it would be but the words spilled and I let them. I hope my candor helps someone - no family is perfect, we all know that. But sometimes we need to hear about a situation and learn from it. We all live with the consequences from the decisions we make. Somethings can never be undone and we have one chance to do the right thing. The people I love I would do anything for; even if it makes me a little uncomfortable. I show up and I support them. Actions do speak louder than words.

What do we take from this? I hope it’s the idea that love is a verb. That not everything is about us and that sometimes we have to put the needs of others ahead of our own needs.

This week was a busy one! Our eldest son, Nolan and his fiance flew in last Friday and left Wednesday. The purpose of the visit? To explore wedding venues! It was wonderful having them here and now they’re gone - boo!

If you’re new here, our eldest son and his fiance live in Maine. They are going to have their wedding here and that brings me so much happiness!

The Spring Sales!

Who knew Amazon would have their Big Spring Sale and Target would also have a sale the same week! Frankly I find the Amazon sale too big to navigate but the Target sale is much, much easier! Clothes are 30% off!

I will share two recent Amazon purchases that exceeded my expectations. We recently replaced our dead crotons (thanks to a hard freeze) with these faux petunias. They look great and don’t fade. I will be buying more!

When we got our new sectional we were in need of a small table to place a drink on. Amazon to the rescue for under $40! The quality is great!

I bought this dress from Amazon just last weekend. I LOVE it! Thie fabric is just like the IZOD shirts of the 80’s. It comes in lots of colors too and runs TTS. The shoes are those same ones I keep bragging about to anyone who will listen. I get compliments when I wear them out and about. They are comfy ALL DAY LONG - I wore them when toured wedding venues and they did not disappoint.

I got a new wig this week from the Tik Tok shop! It was only $21 and I LOVE it! I am tickled over how fun the waves are and the lighter color. If you or someone you know is dealing with hair loss or maybe they just complain about their hair - wigs and toppers are a great solution! These dresses were purchased earlier but they’re still in stock and now 30% off. I’ve washed and worn both multiple times and I highly recommend them. They washed well and will continue to be on the short list when I am looking for what to wear.

Walmart Option

Walmart doesn’t run promotions like Target does but they’re price point is less too. Honestly sometimes I have to do a double take at Target. Walmart seems to have better prices overall.

This cute dress has pockets and smocking in the back. It also zips up the back. It’s honestly so lovely! This dress also comes in a blue plaid, I really liked the yellow and blue floral print on this one. It runs TTS (true to size).

If it’s cooler where you live but not cold, add a sweater! The blue cardigan has been such a good purchase, I hemmed and hawed about buying it but I turns out it was a great purchase. I don’t know why I was second guessing myself! It’s sold out but this one is very similar.

Shoes

Neutral colored shoes are what I wear and one of my favorite ways to do that is with a clear shoe. I have worn my Shutz Victorie slides for years and they are on their last leg (no pun intended). I took a chance on this pair from Amazon and I am very impressed! I love the low heel and the price is much better than the Shutz pair. I bought my true size nine.

I realize if you live in cold weather these won’t be options for you. But warmer weather is coming and these will be great for summer!

Regardless, as I always say, we can CHOOSE how we react and feel when it happens. It may come with age, but I firmly believe, at this point in my life, that God is giving me what I needed rather than what I wanted. If only I had realized that when I was younger I would have saved myself a lot of heartache. But then again, that heartache helped shape me into who I am today. So once again, I got the experiences I needed to shape me into who I am today. You did too!

Here’s how I deal with disappointment now. I allow myself to feel it. To mourn the loss of whatever it was I wanted that was going to do x,y, or z for me or change my life. But I only allow this for a short while and then I start SPEAKING of the disappointment in different terms. I move on and don’t stay stuck in the ‘if only’ trap. I remind myself of all the experience I have had being let down or disappointed and how it ultimately was for the best.

I hope maybe this inspires you to do the same! I think this is a key process in living your most joyful and FULL life!

Picking up where we left off, my past post ended with Thursday night. Friday morning was a great one because we had no plans and could sleep in! Since that night was the Sammy Hagar concert, we spent most of the day in the Arts District. It was about a mile and a half walk from our hotel. We went to an antique mall and then some vintage shops. Honestly we both enjoy looking at old things so much! Before walking back to our hotel we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant. It was very good we were so full!

Friday night was the concert at the Dolby Live inside one of the MGM hotels. The venue was beautiful and the concert was so good! Sammy sounded great!

We got back to the hotel by 11pm and hit the hay! The next morning was another early call time for a trip to The Hoover Dam. The trip was only a little over 30 minutes and so worth it. We started at the bridge and then ended up at the dam. The tour was really interesting. I was so impressed with the design and construction. Such brilliant minds! The tour included lunch at a diner which was nice.

After being dropped back off at the hotel, we went upstairs to relax and unwind. I was able to finish my book on this trip - I read Culpability after Amy shared that she had!

At 5:30pm Saturday evening we were picked up by my husband’s cousin and his wife. They live just outside of Vegas! We had dinner at Cheesecake Factory and enjoyed out visit. Once we arrived back at the hotel we packed and went to bed so we’d be ready bright and early to head to the airport Sunday morning!

What I Wore

I walked miles and miles on this trip and I am pleased to report no blisters or irritation from shoes! This is particularly important since I wore my Walmart shoes and the flip flops from Amazon!

I wore this to breakfast Friday morning since it was chilly. Also? Since we were early birds I could easily take hallway photos in the morning! Ha!

It definitely heated up later in the morning so I changed into this pretty sundress. Let me also say what a JOY it was to travel with wigs! I never once worried about my hair! This is the 1st time EVER I traveled without hairspray and a curling iron!

This photo is hard to see but I wore my Clara Sunwoo jumpsuit to the concert. And I kept my flip flops on with it! I brought heels but decided the flip flops felt better. I also wore my denim jacket.

Layering was the name of the game! When we left for the Hoover Dam tour it was chilly but of course it heated up later. I was always happy to have a sweater to drape over my shoulders.

Sorry for my absence, our trip to Vegas wore me out! Last week we left very early in the morning on Wednesday and we returned Sunday night. The trip was fun but there is no place like home for me. Since there is just so much to share I am splitting this into two parts.

Why we went

My husband turned 60 in February and decided he wanted to celebrate by seeing Sammy Hagar when he began his Vegas residency in March. Since we felt partied out last year after our son’s graduation party and my husband’s retirement party, a trip was in order. We decided since we would most likely never go back we needed to pack it all in. That meant the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam in addition to the concert and Pawn Stars.

What we did

We don’t gamble and don’t drink that much so being in Vegas where those two things are so prevalent was kinda funny. Most people who know us were shocked we were going until they heard about the concert. My husband planned the entire trip and I was a willing participant. He did a great job!

We stayed in the old section of Vegas. The hotel was adequate - the rooms were old but fine. The hotel was The Four Queens. This was a great spot because it put us in walking distance to the things we wanted to do.

On Wednesday we arrived around 9am their time so we had a whole day! After dropping our bags at the hotel we walked to Pawn Stars and a few toys shops. My husband grabbed a quick lunch - I was not hungry - and then we went to The MOB Museum. I really enjoyed it and they have a speaker in residence - Frank Calabrese, Jr. He was a mobster turned FBI informant. His story was incredible! He wrote a book which I plan to get from the library. I got my picture taken with him - my maiden name is O’Donnell and his mother’s family was O’Donnell! Small world!

I was running out of speed quickly - we had been up since 3am. Once we got into our room we ate dinner at one of the on site restaurants. The food was meh but I was way too tired to care. I went to bed at 7:30pm!

Thursday morning we were up early to meet our tour bus at 6:30am to head to the Grand Canyon. Because we were on one end of the strip - and everyone else was on the other - we were picked up first. After multiple stops we all transferred buses and then we were off to a small airport to get on a helicopter. It was AMAZING! My husband and I ended up being the only two on our copter with the pilot. This made for such a great experience. I highly recommend taking a helicopter rather than sitting on a bus for a few hours.

The helicopter dropped us at a small terminal where we shuttled to two different areas to visit on the west rim of the canyon. Pictures just don’t do it justice! What an incredible experience!

After a full day, we met our pilot and flew back to Boulder City. Got on the bus and headed back to our hotel. We rested for a few hours and then took an uber to the newer part of the strip. We spent a few hours walking through the hotels and checking out the gorgeous decor. Right across the street from the Bellagio was a cute restaurant where we grabbed dinner. Luckily we were able to sit outside and watch the fountain show at the Bellagio.

Then it was back to the hotel where we were in bed by 9:30pm!

What I wore

It was hot in Vegas but the mornings started out cool. Since I knew we’d be doing a ton of walking I made sure to pack for comfort. I also don’t enjoy changing clothes multiple times a day. I did a great job packing if I do say so myself! There was nothing that I wished I’d brought and I wore everything but two tops. Also? We decided to check a bag rather than just bring carry ons - that really helped.
